Sanuk (สนุก) is a Thai term meaning “fun” or “enjoyable.” ” Sanuk di” means “I had fun,” or “it was enjoyable.” Thai culture emphasizes the importance of sanuk, enjoying life. Sanuk D seeks to enjoy life and help those around him enjoy life. Whether it is by finding beauty in an unexpected place — sprayed on a wall, painted under skin, or planted in a small garden — or in helping someone feel more at home through an act of hospitality, the goal is sanuk. This is not hedonism; we are not German Nihilists. This is showing gratitude to God by celebrating the abundant life around us.
